The World Health Organization's definition is a state of “complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." Most individuals can tell you at least one positive change they could make to feel better. Why then are so many suffering with their health? In my opinion most individuals are simply overwhelmed. Better health doesn't need to be difficult or lacking in tasty foods. The best advice is to just start.
Please note I am licensed and in-network with insurance companies in the state of Pennsylvania. I can only therefore legally see clients who live in PA. I am also not a Medicare Provider.
Philosophy - Let Food Be Thy Medicine & Medicine Be Thy Food
I am an Integrative, Registered & Licensed Dietitian who uses a holistic approach to wellness. I map out signs and symptoms through a thorough history, uncover clues to each person's unique issues, and work with each individual to discover dietary & lifestyle factors holding them back from achieving optimum health. I don't use calorie counting or diets per say. I like to provide healthy swaps for items removed and focus more on what to include verses what you can't have.
I specialize in food sensitivities; IBD/IBS digestive issues such as Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis, Celiac & GERD; weight management; migraines; and wellness counseling.
Approach:
I use a 5 R approach: Remove items that are causing issues, Replace items with healthier alternatives, Reinoculate healthy gut bacteria, Repair intestinal lining, and lastly Rebalance all areas in your life. The goal is to discover what may be hindering your health by getting to the root cause, in order to get and keep you well.
One of the biggest mistakes I see clients make is going back to old ways once their symptoms have improved. Our bodies are like a bank account. Most of us are in a negative balance. Zero balance is when symptoms are gone. This is often the time that clients start to slip because they feel better. We are human and there will be times you don't need to be as diligent; however, we need to get the bank account into a surplus so when "cheating" happens, you aren't putting yourself in a negative balance where symptoms return.

*I am not a Medicare provider. Most Medicare plans only cover nutritional services if you suffer from Diabetes or Kidney Disease. But there may be another option available to you, Performance Kitchen. I encourage you to check them out. This is an exciting and important movement in preventing, managing and often reversing chronic disease with whole, nutritious food!
Millions of people nationwide with a chronic disease on Medicare Advantage or Medicaid currently qualify for meals paid for by their insurance company. See if you or a loved one qualifies, check out their Meal Benefit Locator Tool here: bit.ly/3sOn8IK
Insurance is an option for single appointments, not package deals. I am in-network with BCBS, Highmark, Cigna, & Aetna insurance plans in the state of PA only. Dietitians are considered an enhanced specialist for insurance purposes.
I encourage you to contact your insurance provider to confirm if your specific plan covers nutritional services. Here are the codes you will need:
-CPT codes for Initial Visit: 97802, Follow-up Visits: 97803.
-ICD-10 Diagnosis codes will vary but a common code you could check is: Z71.3 for Dietary Surveillance and Counseling.
Each insurance plan is different so be sure to inquire:
-How many visits per calendar year you're allowed?
-Do you have a co-pay or co-insurance?
-Do you have a deductible and if so have you met it?
-Always get a reference number to the call for documentation purposes.
-If you need a medical diagnosis for coverage, I would need this from your Dr prior to your appointment.
